We use for extraction our Apple cider vinegar, made from apples and reversed osmosis filtered water, left for at least 6 month fermentation.
Method of preparation: Maceration

Suggested use: Unless instructed otherwise by Herbalist or health practitioner, traditionally dosage will vary between 1.5ml (30 drops) to 4 ml, up to 3 times a day. Taken with water or other fluid. Shake well before use.
Sediment which will come with time is perfectly fine and there is nothing wrong with that, it is just mother growing, if you don't want mother to grow and you agree to loose some of live vinegar benefits just pasteurize, that will still keep vinegar benefits but some extra benefits coming with mother will be gone.

Shelf life: We give our live vinegars with mother 1 year shelf live, however if you pasteurize it will add another 2 years of shelf life (actually there are scientific data showing that vinegar after over 100 years still keeps all properties of herb used).
