also known as sway, muskrat root. Sweet tasting, with flavours similar to a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger - although watch out for the bitter aftertaste. Perfect as a tea, flavouring for food or as bitters. Sweet flag has long history of traditional use.
Suggested Use: It can be used for herbal tea. Add 1-2 tea spoon to cup of boiling water, steep under cover for 10-25 min. Strain and drink. Sweet flag also has other uses, research beneficial uses of this herb or consult an Herbalist as to how this product can benefit you.
Contraindications: When taking medications or other herbs on a regular basis, you should consult your doctor about consuming calamus rhizomes. Additionally, it should not be used in case of allergy to calamus rhizome, during pregnancy, breastfeeding and in children under 12 years of age.
